Do It in the Dark

I am joining Rufus Wainwright in his "Blackout Sabbath". He wants to save the world by unplugging and turning off the lights to live in darkness from noon to midnight June 21st, the summer solstice. I am going to join him. I encourage and even challenge everyone to do the same!

Why Not!

How badly could it hurt. It is after all the longest day of the year. I think it is a great exercise and challenge. So it is settled, Mergirl will be open that Sat. June 21st, but it will be dark. Bring your checkbook because the credit card machine won't be working. This is going to be fun.
One of his other wishes is to get The Empire State Building to be Dark until Midnight that night as well. Write them, call them and email them to encourage the almighty powers that be, to keep the lights off at least until midnight.

darling trish playing in the snow!

Hi all,

I love the snow and I love playing in the snow! I thought I would share these pictures with you. Check out the coat. It is my lovely Una Wax Canvas Coat from Laura Dawson. It is soooooooooooo totally cute with my black tights and boots (there is a mini dress underneath the coat, but I will save that for another day). The Una Coat is amazing and I love it. I wear it EVERY where. Go to Laura's online store to take a peak at and purchase. Make sure you look at all of her other items while you are there. I can honestly tell you that her clothing has great subtle details and is finished beautifully.

Moved my studio this weekend. I love it. I am pretty sure it will NEVER be this clean again. Of course, I have not even transported all of my fabric and "inspirations" yet. I will do my best to stay organized.

Podcast Interview with Julie and I at The Mashable Open Web Awards

Podcast: A Conversation with Smashing Darling’s Julie Rorrer and Trisha Ginter

Smashing Darling is ‘an indie fashion site that features independent designers and their products’ founded by Julie Rorrer and Trisha Ginter, both guests and finalists at this year’s Open Web Awards. It is a social network/catalogue site that allows you to join as a designer (or as they say, ‘get smashed’) or to shop as a consumer, thereby either sampling or creating fashion designers that fall outside the mainstream design lines you’ll see at the major department stores.

It’s an interesting idea, and something that has clearly been well executed, something someone like me who isn’t a fashion aficionado can plainly see. In the interview, the founders express how the site went from idea to reality and what their motivation behind the site was

This interview is another in a video series taken by Brad Hunstable from the Open Web Awards that we’ll be broadcasting here at the blog and in our podcast over the next several days.
